Etude: A Bar, in the Afternoon

A couple of years ago I began to write a long poem sequence. For a long time I struggled with the title. A few weeks ago I hit upon the title “Etude”, which is a variation on its original title, which I won’t say here because it really sounded pompous. This is the first poem in the sequence.
